Change Leaders Should Lead AI Adoption

AI raises the bar for change management professionals: gone are the days where fancy PowerPoint skills are enough to help consultants shine; and bright-eyed college graduates will have to find new ways to rise through the ranks because capturing meeting minutes and analyzing data can now be completed by AI. Change Management leaders should lead this charge by increasing the focus on strategic work and letting AI do the rest. OCM leaders must encourage the use of new AI tools and have a mindset shift when it comes to AI.

To be successful, OCM leaders should use AI to…

Automate tasks that AI can perform.

  • OCM Managers must have a mindset shift and ask themselves, “How can I or my direct reports be using AI to be more effective and efficient?” Using AI for administrative tasks like report generation, tracking, project progress, data entry, and analyzing data can help leaders and their direct reports become more efficient. AI can also synthesize large amounts of data, identify patterns, risks, and opportunities for ongoing business cases to make leaders and their direct reports more effective.

  • As a prime example of a tool that change leaders can use, Tome.AI can create outlines, build storytelling presentations, generate text, images, animations, and more.

Make change management more of a science using predictive modeling.

  • Predictive modeling is the process of using data, statistical methods, and machine learning to forecast future outcomes and trends. It can help change management leaders optimize business decisions, reduce risks, and enhance customer satisfaction.

  • AI and predictive modeling can help OCM leaders assess potential challenges and share outcomes. Leaders can input scenarios, such as what would happen if a strategic initiative was introduced with 20 strategic initiatives already in progress. Predictive modeling with AI can then equip OCM managers with data such as if employees will experience change fatigue or when is the best time to deploy a new change initiative. Making informed decisions on change initiatives leads to a higher likelihood of project success and employee adoption.

Champion the adoption of AI by employees and customers.

  • Now more than ever, OCM leaders need to have influence on a company’s AI roadmap when employees and customers are impacted. AI has a lot to learn about people, inclusion, and ethics so change management leaders should provide input on how AI will be designed and deployed at companies.

  • It’s common for organizations to have “pockets of excellence” when it comes to the modernization of technology. With AI, some groups and teams have already adopted and are using AI before most of the organization. Leaders are challenged with transitioning those AI “pockets of excellence” to the entire organization. OCM leaders will be instrumental in expanding the use and value of AI across the organization.

  • With the vast amount of change that AI will bring for people, it’s clear that change management leaders need to have a seat at the table when people will be impacted.

If change management leaders want to stay ahead of the curve, they must embrace the technology and change that comes with AI. By keeping a pulse on how to use AI to their advantage, as well as how AI impacts organizations, OCM leaders can better provide value to clients. Above all, OCM leaders must remain the human voice for employees and customers through AI strategic roadmaps and expanding the use of AI across organizations.
